Our candles are handcrafted with 100% natural soy wax and premium wood wicks. Wood wicks create a beautiful, cozy crackle, but they do require a little extra love to burn perfectly. Follow these simple tips to enjoy a clean, safe, and long-lasting burn.
1. The Crucial First Burn
The first time you light your candle is the most important. Let the candle burn until the melted wax pool reaches all the way to the edges of the jar. This usually takes 2 to 3 hours. Soy wax has a "memory", if you blow it out too early, it will form a tunnel down the center, and the candle will never burn evenly again.
2. Trim the Wick Every Time
Wood wicks need to be short to draw up the wax properly. Before every single burn, trim your wood wick to between 1/8" and 1/4". You can use a wick trimmer, or simply use your fingers to gently pinch and snap off the black, burnt tip of the wood once the candle is completely cool.
3. Safety First
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
- Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.
- Place your candle on a flat, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, open windows, and fans.
- Do not burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
- Stop burning your candle when only 1/2" of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.
4. What About Botanicals or Crystals?
If your candle contains dried florals or crystals, please note their unique care. For safety, we recommend removing large crystals or loose botanicals with a spoon before lighting your candle, or right as the wax begins to melt, to prevent the wick from getting clogged or catching fire.
